PrairieSong is an auditioned, adult mixed-voice choir of 36 voices.
The
mission of PrairieSong is to provide a postcollege singing opportunity which
will challenge the singer vocally as well as
musically while maintaining
high standards in choral singing.
The repertoire ranges from sacred works
to Broadway showtunes.
Jeanne Carter is the director of PrairieSong. She is the director
of music
and fine arts at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in
Sioux Falls, is an adjunct
faculty member of Augustana where she
teaches private voice and directs the
Women's Choir. She also is a
director with the Sioux Falls Girls Chorale.
Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm at
Central Baptist Church
in Sioux
Falls.
There are selected Tuesday rehearsals when needed.
The
first get-together for the season is Tuesday, August 19.
The first
rehearsal is Thursday, September 4.
PrairieSong sings two major concerts a
year and makes other
appearances in the community as the opportunity arises.
PrairieSong is supported financially by singer donations,
corporate
donations, and paid performances.
Any donation to PrairieSong is
tax-deductible.
There are openings in each section.
Auditions for the 2008-2009 season will
be
Monday, July 21 and Monday July 28 from 5:00-8:00 pm
at Our Savior's
Lutheran Church.
